Timing:
The surf camp, Maranga, in Taghazout in Morocco is available to you every year from December to March.
Location:
The Maranga Surf house lies directly by the ocean, just a little distance away from Agadir, in the famous town of Taghazout. This little area is quickly developing into an international hotspot for surfing. From restaurants and cafes, to little grocery stores, surf shops and Internet cafes, you’ve got everything close by. To hit the local surf spot it’ll take you all of 5 minutes by foot.
Housing:
The rooms in the Maranga Surf house are decorated in traditional Moroccan style. We’ve got 2prs, 3prs and 4prs rooms, a comfortable lounge, kitchen, a shower with warm water and toilets (European standard). From the rooftop terrace you’ll have a great view of 3 surf spots (Hash Point, Anchor Point and Panoramas), beautiful sunrises and sunsets as well as the busy street life of Taghazout.
Food:
After our daily breakfast, you’ll be ready to kick off your day of surfing. To ensure you’ve got enough energy for your afternoon surf session, we’ll hook you up with a packed lunch to keep you going. We’ll top it off with 5 warm and tasty dinners. The remaining 2 nights you’ve got free to test out some of the lovely restaurants that serve local specialties. Dishes like Couscous or Tajine in multiple variations will provide you with a true Moroccan experience, but there are plenty of opportunities to also try International dishes. And you’ll be able to wash all your meals down with the distinct tasting “Whiskey Marocain.”
Equipment:
If you’ve got your own surfboard, you are more than welcome to bring it. For those of you who would like to play it safe and avoid any problems transporting your board, or for those who don’t own a board yet, you’ll be able to borrow a board from our large selection. We have boards of multiple lengths (6.8, 7.2, 7.3, 7.6, 7.9, and 8.4 from BIC and NSP.
Surfing:
You can learn to surf with the help of experienced surf instructors from the Maranga Surf School. The Surf lessons for beginners take place for 5 days, 2 hours per day. As for advanced surfers, there will be 6 hours of lessons broken up into 3 days. Maranga Surf School is a member of the Austrian Surfing Association. Hashpoint and Panoramas surf spots as well as the 4 km long sandy beach are directly in front of the Surf house. To ensure you get all the surf you can handle, we’ll cover the transport during your 5 days, so that if there are small waves or little swell, we can get you to some of the more removed surf spots.
Arrival:
Warning: To visit Morocco you will need a passport that is at least valid for 6 months.
Visitors from non-EU countries need to familiarize themselves with visa requirements.
Most likely the cheapest way to get to Morocco is to fly with Ryan Air to Marrakesh. It will cost you between 10 and 20 Euros to get a taxi from the Airport to the Bus station and depends on your negotiating skills. From there you can catch a bus (multiple buses per day) to Agadir.
This can be a good alternative to the Charter flights. Should you arrive a bit late in Marrakesh and miss the last bus, you can always take the opportunity to spend a night in the city or grab a shared taxi to take you to Taghazout.
That’ll cost you about 130 Euros and is certainly only worth while when you can share the cost. Bus time schedules are available at http://www.marrakech-info.com/marrakech/bus-taxi.htm#Busbahnhof
For those who have a bit more of a budget and want to travel in more comfort should fly directly to Agadir. A few charter flights are available with Airlines such as Condor, AirBerlin, Tuifly, etc…
For those who would like to book a trip through the conventional method, we recommend travel.de . In Agadir we’ll pick you up at the airport, as well as at the Bus or Train station dependant on requests.
